READATHON  WRITER’S  COMPETITION   Click Here for Life Stories The Library Committee of the Education Library (FS Dept of Education) had decided to celebrate Readathon Week 2006 with a writer’s competition – open for anybody who’s part of the Education Department. The theme was “Write your life story”, with closing date 21 September 2006. On that date 37 entries were received from all over the province. It was a tough decision for the judges to choose a winner, because we had received very good stories! However we had obtained sponsors from Cambridge University Press, Exclusive Books and EDIT Microsystems for the first, second and third prizes and a decision had to be made. At the end of November 2006 the winners were chosen: First prize was given to Mr MH Mathopa from ABET in Bloemfontein ; Second prize to Ms F Jensen, a teacher at Jagersfontein Intermediate School ; Third prize to Ms M van Wyk, a teacher at Bergmanshoogte Intermediate School . But, the Library Committee managed to get some extra prizes from Cambridge University Press and decided to give seven consolation prizes to: Mr MP Molelekoa (Finance Bloemfontein ) Ms MP Motuba (Lejweleputswa District) Ms N Ncinitwa ( Bloemfontein ) Liesel Thormählen (Gr 9, Zastron High School ) Stefan Meades (Gr 6, Jacobsdal Primary School ) Marlize (Gr 4 Jacobsdal Primary School ) Madel Bezuidenhout (Gr 4 Jacobsdal Primary School ) The Librarian and Library Committee thank every participant and sponsor for his / her part in making this a successful competition. We are certainly going to do have other competitions again in the future!
