Performance
management is applicable to all staff on all levels.
Performance management is about assessing the daily work performance of
individuals so that measurement of achievement of Departmental Goals and
Objectives can be met and the employee is simultaneously developed.
The
Strategic role of Performance management is to assist the organisation to
achieve its strategic goal. It is intended to align the organisation and its
systems with its strategic plan and provincial growth and development
strategies, etc. It is a tool that is designed to mobilise its employees towards
the realisation of the organisational strategic objectives.
The Performance Development and Management System (PDMS) cycle prescribes
specified time periods in which an employee must be assessed.
The period runs from April to the following March.
PDMS is
a tool to set and develop performance goals of the organisation and translate
them at individual level.
